Helmet Baby
Welcome to HelmetBaby.com!!

At helmetbaby.com, our treatment protocol is first to evaluate and measure your baby working only by a physician’s prescription. We carefully measure your child to determine the cranial diagonal difference and cranial index. The cranial diagonal difference is taken by measuring the diagonal of the head form, the flattened side to the opposite side of the face. This value is subtracted from the measurement taken from the non flattened diagonal side. The cranial index is measured by taking the width of the head and dividing it by the length and multiplying it by 100. The higher the resulting percentage value, the flatter the head (i.e. Brachiocephaly). A low percentage value means there is more head elongation (i.e. Scaphelocephaly). A normal cranial index is between 82% to 89%.

We use a dual analysis comparing our digital laser mold with a digital caliper to ensure accuracy. If by our evaluation the cranial diagonal difference is .6cm, or above and the cranial index is 90% or greater, then we recommend a cranial remodeling helmet for your baby.

After laser molding your baby, we give a return appointment for fitting and delivery of the cranial remodeling helmet in one week. Other companies offering laser molding helmets take up to two weeks for a return appointment. This can detrimentally affect helmet fit due to the rapid changes that infants can go through in their growth process.

When you leave our facility with your cranial remodeling helmet, we follow your baby on a regular basis to document improvement and make adjustments when necessary.

The two scans above show an initial digital mold on the left before treatment showing a flattening of the right posterior head area and an almost fully corrected right posterior head area after six weeks. Our method allows us to document improvement verifying changes that otherwise might not be appreciated by conventional methods.
